Oh! Why Hello There!
Happy Election Day.
I know this is a day where more then just a handful of you have been dreading, maybe wishing we could ask for an extension on Mr. Obama's term till we get things figured out or maybe you've been planning your relocation to Canada or Mexico perhaps?
But the truth of the matter is, there is no extension and relocating doesn't solve anything, other than deepen your head in the comforting sand. Did you know that women have only been able to vote less than 100-years? That women were not allowed to wear pants on the senate floor until 1993...thats only 23-years! That means, that Hilary Clinton had already been in politics for 7-years!
I'm not here to sway your vote of Red vs. Blue. I'm here to say Hell Yes! to women everywhere. To the moms, to the teachers, to the writers, makers, and business owners. To the nurses and doctors, to the race car drivers, and olympians. Hell Yes to the countless hours in a day we spend being just ourselves; yet feeling worthless thanks to the society that beats us down...to just get back up in the morning to do it again.
Women have been broken down for centuries and we have continued to rise. We have continued to carry the world on our backs birthing life onto this planet all while changing the world with our minds, ambitions and our devotion. So Hell Yes! To the Helen Kellers, the Joan of Arc's, to the Amelia Earhart's. Hell Yes! To the Hilary Clintons, to the Jane Austen's and to the Barbra Kruger's. Name after name after name....I'd never end if I listed each and every woman who has fought to get us here today, on November 8th...VOTING...IN PANTS...FOR A WOMAN PRESIDENT.
I don't care who you vote for, but PLEASE with all honesty VOTE! Don't let the woman of our past down. Don't let your daughters, nieces, granddaughters, your sisters, aunts, mother, and wives down. Both past and future.
Thank you to all the women who have come before me to make today possible.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
SO....To get us in the voting spirit I've put together a "Nasty Woman" playlist and found a Nasty Woman cocktail to ring in this historical day! Happy Election 2016 everyone <3
