Let me just start this entry off with: all photo sessions need to start with ice cream? Ammiright?
You may recognize mikayla from a photo session i did last summer when she had just chopped off all her hair in pure defiance against her recent lupus diagnosis. at that session i could only put her close to the water, as her love for swimming had been shut down during some of the treatments. But not this day.
nine months later i'm shooting her graduation photos with her best friend and lifeline at her side (and she's my daughters swim coach now!)
ice cream was the one food through this past year of treatments, ups and downs, that i had repeatidly heard mikayla say she craved and could keep down. so when she asked me to do her and cailin's graduation photos -- i knew one thing...it needed ice cream.
it was freezing cold...snowing just hours before this session. but we were all having so much fun that we only started to notice at the end when our hands were frozen numb.
these two girls is the ultimate example of what it means to have a best friend. someone who will literally do anything with and for you...because...your friends.
they had so many jokes between one another, made each other laugh and joked about the future and though they are going separate ways...i know they will be friends for a lifetime.
congratulations ladies. i'm so excited for you! (and remember $1.50 ice cream at baskin robin's on the 31st of each month!)
